Governor Proclaims August as Children’s Vision and Learning Month in Oregon
Dr. Joanna Carter, InSight Vision Therapy, reached out to Governor Tina Kotek’s office for support of Children’s Vision and Learning Month and received a signed proclamation for her efforts. The celebration takes place during the month of August. August was first declared Children's Vision and Learning Month in 1995 to raise awareness about the high number of undiagnosed or misdiagnosed vision issues affecting children’s ability to learn.
The public awareness campaign is hosted by Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association. An important part of OVDRA's yearly awareness campaign is to encourage local and state governments to pass official proclamations that highlight the importance of children's vision for their success in school.
Dr. Carter has post-graduate training in vision therapy, which improves communication between the eyes and the brain. With therapy, her patients noticed improvements such as visual clarity and comfort, ease and independence with academics, better eye-hand coordination and improved 3-D vision.
Congratulations Dr. Carter, and thank you!
